3 Series E90 320i (N43) SAL
Note:
Cylinder head bolts 1 to 6 have an M10 thread with an
E12 bolt head.
Cylinder head bolts 7 to 10 have an M9 thread with an
E10 bolt head.
Release cylinder head bolts from outside to inside in sequence 10
to 1.
Lift off cylinder head.
Note:
Shown without camshafts for purposes of clarity.
Important!
The screw connection on the bearing bridge (vacuum pump)
must not be released.
It is not possible to adjust the bearing bridge.
Installation:
Clean sealing face (1) with special tool 11 4 470 only.
Non-return valves (2) protrude slightly when installed.
Check dowel sleeves for damage and correct installation position.
Note:
A non-return valve (1) and a spacer bushing (2) are installed in
the engine block at the 1st cylinder for both the inlet and exhaust
sides.
In event of heavy contamination:
Replace non-return valve (1) and spacer bushing (2).
Important!
Note installation direction of non-return valve (1).
Install non-return valve (1) and spacer bushing (2) as shown in
illustration.
