5 Series E34 525i (M50) TOUR
Hold camshaft with Special Tool 11 3 240.
Camshafts can be turned on hexagon with a 24 mm wrench.
Caution!
Make sure that bearing banks are not damaged.
If necessary, machine open-end wrench accordingly.
Install primary timing chain on the sprocket and centre with the
exhaust camshaft.
Arrow on sprocket faces up.
Mount sprocket to have the tapped bores on the left-hand side of
the slots so that the sprocket will be turned counterclockwise while
installing the chain tensioner.
Apply pulse sensor on the intake camshaft.
Mount both sprockets together with chain.
Arrows on chain wheels face up.
