Replacing fuel heater (M51, M41)
Interrogate fault memory of DDE control unit.
Switch off ignition.
The electronics for the filter heating are integrated in the upper
section of the filter.
The heating element and water-level sensor are integrated in the
upper section of the filter and can only be replaced complete with
the fuel filter.
Caution!
Heating element could have up to 130
°
C.
Danger of injury!
Schematics:

NTC sensor records the temperature of incoming fuel flow
2.
PTC heating element
Term. 15: Battery positive for ignition starter switch
Term. 30: Battery positive
Term. 31: Battery earth
Function Test:
Remove connector for fuel heating (3).
Measure heating voltage with multimeter.
