Adjustment tool for reversing camera (RFK)

Situation: 

With the launch of the E70, BMW is for the first time offering an optional reversing camera.
This reversing camera contains a number of driver assistance functions that appear in form
of various graphics in the real, electronically equalised video image on the Central
Information Display (CID). These graphic must agree geometrically with the world outside.

Because of the installation tolerances in the vehicle (suspension, tailgate and reversing
camera), it is essential for the reversing camera to be calibrated. The reversing camera can
only be calibrated via diagnosis (SGBD job). Manual adjustment is not possible. To
calibrate the reversing camera, a "visual target" must be correctly set relative to the
reversing camera. This target is a component of the adjustment tool.

In order to meet the high demands placed on calibrating the reversing camera, adjustment
(maximum target deviation 

±

0.5 cm in any direction) must be performed in the headlight or

ACC adjustment bay, or at a place with a similarly level surface. The requirements are
described in SI 020405208 Enclosure 1

.

The reversing camera must be calibrated after:

•

Removal/installation of reversing camera

•

Wheel alignment

•

Repair work on the body at the rear of the vehicle

•

Adjustment work on the tailgate

Note:

The instructions given in the respective repair instructions must always be
observed.

The reversing camera adjustment tool is designed so that it will also be able to be used for
adjusting the reversing camera on later vehicle models.

For all information regarding the delivery specification and on assembling the reversing
camera adjustment tool, please refer to Enclosure 1 .

The reversing camera adjusting tool will only be supplied to order. Orders can be placed
