Luggage compartment - roller cover noise
E39/2, E46/3
Complaint:
Rattling and grating noise from area of luggage compartment roller cover.
Cause:
Tolerances in mounting mechanism (on vehicle and roller cover side).
Affected
vehicles:
E39/2 touring and E46/3 touring.
Remedy:
Since week 10/01, the roller cover for the luggage compartment has Teflon strips applied at
each end.
Since week 20/01, several improvement measures have been phased in on the roller cover
and mount.
Procedure:
If the above problem occurs, Teflon strips must be adhered on both sides of the mount on
the left and right of the roller cover (see illustration 51 01 001).
The Teflon strip must also be affixed to the bottom edge.
Important!
The adhesion area must be clean and free of grease.
Both roller cover mounts (vehicle side) must be completely sprayed with a universal
lubricant spray (see illustration 51 01 003).
The covers of both roller cover mounts must be removed for this purpose.
Important!
Risk of soiling the interior when spraying the mounts.
