5 Series E39 525d (M57) SAL
Release joint on steering gear.
These tasks are described in the work step Removing and
installing complete front axle.
Support front axle support with hydraulic lifter and special tool
31 2 220 .
Detach front axle support and carefully lower as far as possible.
These tasks are described in the work step Removing and
installing complete front axle.
Note:
If the ribbed V-belt is then going to be reused, it must be marked
and installed in the same direction of travel.
Press belt tensioner back at hexagon head (1).
Remove ribbed V-belt (2).
