5 Series E39 525td (M51) SAL
Adjust height of hood lid on the hinges:
Close hood lid carefully.
Determine height setting, measure deviation and open hood.
Secure hood lid.
Caution!
If hood lid is not secured, body and windshield can be
damaged.
Unfasten screws (1) and (2) and fit or remove suitable number of
washers to correct the deviation in height setting.
Tighten loosened screws consecutively on left or right sides.
Close hood lid, check height setting and correct if necessary.
Unfasten screws of left and right arrester hooks.
Lower hood lid several times so that the locks can be centered.
Caution!
Do not let the hood lid lock.
Retighten loosened bolts.
