Siemens fixed telephone: Cutout timer inoperative

E38, E39, E53 with GSM car phone with cordless handset (option 630)

Complaint:

The telephone switches off after 2 minutes although the cutout timer is set to more than 2
minutes on vehicles with GSM car phone with cordless handset.

Cause:

Software error in transceiver (BIT II)

Affected
vehicles:

E38, E39, E53 with GSM car phone with cordless handset (option 630) or telephone
provisions (option 640) and retrofitted option 630.

Manufacturing period: 
E38, E39, E53: from January 2001 to March 2001

Procedure:

In the case of customer complaint, check transceiver (BIT II) and replace if necessary. 

1. 

Remove transceiver. 
Please refer to repair instructions "Removing and installing transceiver", 
RA 84 11 620.

2. 

Check part number of transceiver. The part number is printed on the label on the
transceiver. 
If the part number is 84 11 6 915 001 or 84 11 6 916 754:
Replace transceiver. 
Please refer to repair instructions "Replacing transceiver", 
RA 84 11 622.

For E39 and E53 vehicles with BMW Business radio (option 661) in conjunction with
CD drive (option 650) or 
MD drive (option 651), please refer to and, if necessary, work through SI 84 07 01
(713) "Siemens fixed telephone: Increased off-load current".

If the part number is 84 11 6 916 765 or 84 11 6 916 766: 
The transceiver is OK.
