Removing, installing or replacing the starter
motor (M52)
Observe instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery.
Disconnect battery ground wire and mask it.
Remove rear splash guard.
Release nuts (1 and 2).
Remove control lines.
Installation:
Note line routing. Line routing illustrated here with intake air
manifold removed.
When fitting the nut (1), both lines (2 and 3) must be routed
without chafing points.
Tightening torque, refer to 12 41 4AZ.
Unfasten screws from starter motor from transmission side using
suitable extension.
Installation:
Tightening torque, 12 41 1AZ.
Disassemble and assemble starter motor,
refer to Subassembly repair instructions.
Additional troubleshooting as per DIS instructions.
