5 Series E39 528i (M52) SAL
Pull out expansion tank in upward direction.
Installation:
Replace sealing rings.
M62
Remove cover from air cleaner.
Unscrew and remove expansion tank cap.
Unscrew and completely remove vent screw.
Caution!
Unscrew expansion tank cap only when engine is cold.
Unscrew and remove splash guard.
Cars with automatic transmissions:
Turn hose plug (1) to left and detach towards bottom.
Cars with manual transmission:
Remove drain plug at bottom of radiator.
Drain off and catch coolant.
Recycling
Catch and dispose of drained coolant. Observe country-
specific waste-disposal regulations.
