Removing and installing or replacing (lower)
steering spindle
Remove steering wheel,
refer to 32 33 000.
Remove lower trim from instrument panel.
Caution!
The tapered spline on the steering spindle is paired. Before
separating the steering spindle, mark both parts in each pair.
Remove clamping screw and remove joint from steering gear.
Installation:
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 32 31 1AZ.
Remove clamping bolt.
Press steering spindle downwards and remove.
Installation:
Ensure that rubber grommet is correctly located in end wall.
Clamping screw is located in the retaining of the upper
steering spindle.
Replace self-locking nut. Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 32 31 1AZ.
