Manual emergency call, using either the Bluetooth handset or the emergency button

Breakdown call (only with option 612 BMW Assist with contract)
If the option 609 "Navigation system Professional" is not installed, an emergency call can only be made manually
on the Bluetooth handset: Enter the national emergency call number (112 in Germany).
Note: Emergency calls are also possible without a SIM card.
An emergency call can always be transmitted, even if the SIM card is not recognised or inserted in the card
holder.
Manual emergency call: A manual emergency call using the national emergency number (e.g. the national
emergency number in Germany is 112) is triggered by pressing the emergency call button.
Automatic emergency call: If an accident exceeding a certain severity occurs, the safety and gateway module
(SGM) will transmit a crash message via a K-bus to the Telematic Control Unit (TCU). The TCU will then make a
connection to the national emergency number.
Manual and automatic emergency call with option 612 "BMW Assist"

Manual emergency call via the emergency call button:
After the emergency call button has been pressed, the Telematic Control Unit (TCU) first tries to establish a
connection with the service provider.

Automatic emergency call:
The TCU sends an emergency call to the service provider in the event of a crash message. The service
provider will try to establish voice contact with the persons in the vehicle to obtain information about:
•
the severity of the accident
•
the number of people injured
•
the condition of injured persons
Rescue efforts are taken in accordance with the information received.
The TCU also sends a text message with the location coordinates of the vehicle to the service provider for
both emergency calls. If no connection can be made, the national emergency number will be dialled.
Breakdown call: A breakdown call is only possible if option 612 "BMW Assist" is installed and if a breakdown
recovery agreement has been concluded. "Breakdown Service" is displayed in the BMW Assist menu on the
on-board monitor or central information display. Pressing the button establishes a telephone connection to the
BMW Group Mobile Service. The vehicle's position is transmitted.
Monitoring and recharging of the battery in the Bluetooth handset
The battery charge in the Bluetooth handset (e.g. lithium ion battery) is continually monitored by the Telematic Control
Unit (TCU). If the battery charge falls below a predefined level, the TCU will activate the battery charger in the eject
