Removing and installing complete exhaust
system (M52)
Unscrew and remove splash guard.
Disconnect plug connection from oxygen sensor.
Detach mounts at rear of catalytic converters from body.
Support exhaust system with special tool 31 2 220.
(Weight approx. 35 kg for 520i/523i, approx. 45 kg for 528i).
Loosen the bolt connection of the flange.
Installation:
Replace seals.
Replace self-locking nuts.
Coat thread with copper paste -CRC-,
refer to BMW Parts Service.
