Removing and installing/replacing alternator
(M57)
Instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery,
refer to General Information MG 12.
Release terminal clip for battery negative lead on battery.
Disconnect and cover battery negative lead.
Caution!
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must
protect the alternator against contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an
alternator malfunction.
Remove and install fan cowl,
refer to 17 11 031.
Remove and install alternator drive belt,
refer to 11 28 010.
Loosen screws (1).
Remove air duct (2).
Unclip expansion tank (3), remove towards top and lay to one
side.
