Note 3:
Position coil spring between spring holders so that
1. lower spring end (1) lies below spring holder;
2. lower spring end (1) aligns with end (2) of spring holder;
3. 3 coils lie between spring holders.
Warning!
During clamping operation, spring coils in upper and lower
spring holder must locate completely in recess.
Special tool 31 3 341 must not be tensioned or unfastened
with an impact screwdriver.
The coils may not be tensioned on a block.
Check rubber gaiter, auxiliary spring and spring washers and
replace if necessary.
Observe installation sequence.
Refer to Layout of spring strut shock absorber unit.
Ends of coil spring must be located in shoulders of spring
retainers.
Replace self-locking nut and tighten with special tool 31 2 210
or with open-end socket tool (width across flats 24) while bracing
with open ring spanner.
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 31 31 2AZ .
Important!
Screw connection of support bearing to piston rod must not
be tightened with impact screwdriver!
