Removing and installing complete front (with
spring strut shock absorber) (high)
Unscrew and remove splash guard.
Secure engine in installation position with special tool and
release engine mounts on left and right on engine support
arm from above,
refer to Main Group 11.
Remove left or right brake disc,
refer to 34 11 220.
Disconnect plug connection for brake-pad-wear indicator
and ABS pulse generator on left and right,
refer to Main Group 34.
Unfasten nut.
Press off track rod on pitman arm with special tool 32 1 190.
Installation:
Tapered spigot and bore free of grease; replace self-locking
nut.
Brace on hexagon socket if necessary.
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 32 21 3AZ.
Unfasten nut.
Press off track rod with special tool 31 2 240.
Installation:
Use washer (1). Tapered spigot and bore free of grease;
replace self-locking nut.
Brace on hexagon socket if necessary.
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 32 21 3AZ.
Remove steering gear from front axle support.
Installation:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Draw in steering gear on screw (1) until it abuts the front axle
support and only tighten hand-tight. First tighten screws (2),
then tighten screw (1).
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 32 00 1AZ.
