5 Series E39 540i (M62) TOUR
Roll outer beads of support ring and tire in succession with fitting
head over outer rim flange.
Detach special tool 36 1 060 from rim.
Note:
When rolling on, ensure the rolled-on outer bead of the support
ring slips immediately into the drop center.
Caution!
Support fin of special tool 36 1 410/423 (tire iron) at steep
deep center sidewall only.
If necessary, lever outer bead of support ring with special tool
36 1 410/423 at fitting head into drop center.
Note:
The support ring for the E39 Protection vehicle has a very high
adhesion resistance on the rim. Alignment must therefore be
carried out with a pneumatic/hydraulic plastic press-off roller.
Carry out this "leveling of the support ring" on both sides of the
wheel. In so doing, press the press-off roller with a small advance
onto the tire bead grooves.
Aligning outer bead of support ring plane-parallel to outer rim
flange: Turn machine plate with press-off roller (1) several times.
Caution!
Do not set wheel (uninflated) firmly on floor.
Remove wheel from tire fitting machine.
