Special tool for rubber mounts
E39 touring
Situation:
New special tools are necessary for repairing the rubber mounts on the rear axle
suspension.
See Enclosure 1.
It has been necessary to modify the already known universal countersupport 33 4 140 for
the purpose of removing the rubber mounts. In view of the fact that these rubber mounts
are higher and have a larger diameter, longer support feet 33 4 148 with new pressure
pads 33 4 149 and an extension of the guide tube (no part number) have proven
necessary.
The longer support feet and the new pressure pads replace the existing components. The
extension piece is mounted with the aid of the supplied screw between the threaded piece
and guide tube.
This replacement is only necessary on existing countersupports, all modifications have
already been implemented on new orders.
As a result of this replacement, the universal countersupport can once again be used for all
rubber mounts.
It has also been necessary to modify the fixture 33 4 150. A longer spindle (33 4 156)
and a larger pressure plate (33 4 157) are additionally necessary for the purpose of
removing and installing the rubber mount.
Procedure:
All special tools will be automatically distributed in accordance with the existing tools
agreement.
