5 Series E39 M5 (S62) SAL
Remove underbody protection at front and rear.
Note:
Remove heat shield (1) to facilitate access to drain plug on left
side of engine block.
Release screws.
Remove heat shield (1).
Note:
The heat shield on the E39 is shown.
Open drain plug (1) at bottom of radiator.
Installation:
Replace seal.
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.
Open drain plug (1) on left and right sides of engine block.
Installation:
Replace seal.
Tightening torque, 11 11 5AZ.
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.
Adding coolant:
Note:
Slowly fill coolant expansion tank with coolant.
Pour coolant into coolant expansion tank to a level of approx.
5 mm above max. cold fill level.
Note:
The tank mark indicates the fluid level at approx. 20
°
C.
Use only recommended coolant.
