5 Series E39 M5 (S62) SAL
Remove heat shield and positive cable from front axle support.
Unfasten bracket of oil cooler line (steering unit) on front axle
support.
Unfasten wheel arch trim from front area of front axle support.
Warning!
Release bolt connection of front axle support from side of car
- no personnel are permitted to stand underneath the front
axle!
Danger of injury!
Attach workshop hoist with special tool 31 2 220 and front axle
support.
Unscrew left and right bolts.
Installation:
Front screw M12 X 107.
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 31 10 1AZ.
Damaged thread,
refer to 31 00 ... Information.
Unscrew left and right nuts.
If applicable, disconnect plug connection for electronic damper
control (EDC). Lift off cap and remove from cable.
Installation:
If necessary, insert centering pin of support bearing into bore
in wheel arch.
Replace self-locking nuts. Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 31 31 1AZ.
