Procedure for processing special damages parts
Within the scope of the fault elimination process, it is essential that BMW AG obtains
access to the damaged parts required as quickly as possible.
All special damages parts (i.e. damaged parts which have been requested for analysis via
the Service Hotline ), should be forwarded to your subsidiary/importer on the very same day
following the procedure described below. This also applies to damaged parts which do not
have to be sent in.
Enter a note on the workshop order / warranty part tag during the repair, in case the
damaged parts should be requested for analysis by the Service Hotline (subsidiary /
importer) as special damages parts.
Enter the dealer number, chassis number, part number and kilometer reading on the
warranty part tag and secure this to the special damages part.
A precise description of the customer complaint or damage complaint must be
documented in the remark section of the part tag.
If necessary, make special arrangements with your subsidiary / importer. Attach the
yellow special damages part sticker to the reverse of the part tag.
Send the special damages part to the Hotline of your subsidiary or importer on the
On all model series on which a fault memory printout is requested
(DIS or MoDiC), this should also be attached (see Information Diagnosis
Encoding IDC 013/96-1 dated April 1996).
All associated small parts and securing components should be returned
together with the special damages part.
Dangerous goods (fuel tanks etc.) are not to be transported in this manner.
Set up a separate parts bay in your dealership (e.g. in the parts store) for
these special damages parts and mark this with the yellow part tag.
