5 Series E60 520d (N47) SAL
Install piston.
Check connecting rod bearing clearance.
Piston in BDC position.
Place special tool 00 2 590 (Plastigage model PG 1) on oil-free
crankshaft.
Fit bearing caps so that pair numbers match up.
Important!
Do not turn the connecting rods or crankshaft.
Use the old connecting rod bolts to check connecting rod
clearance.
Tighten down connecting rod bolts with special tool 00 9 120 or
special tool 11 2 110.
Tightening torque 11 24 1AZ
.
Remove bearing caps.
Read off bearing clearance at width of crushed plastic thread with
aid of measuring scale.
Connecting rod bearing clearance.
Remove plastic thread.
