Removing and installing, sealing/replacing oil
sump (M47T2)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

•

Secure engine to assembly stand.

•

If necessary, lower front axle.

•

Drain engine oil.

Unfasten oil sump screws on transmission end.

Release remaining screws on oil sump (1) and lift off oil sump.

Installation:

Sealing faces clean and free of seal debris.

Check gasket, replace if necessary.

Apply approx. 3 mm wide, 2 mm high coat of
Drei Bond 1209 sealing agent (refer to BMW Parts
Service) to the area around joints (1).
