Aluminium repair

All series 

Situation: 

The aluminium body outer skin parts listed below are currently in use:

E36 convertible/hardtop 
E36 M3/doors 
E38 M73/front lid

In many cases, the replacement of one of these parts can be prevented with less expensive
repairs.

Fundamental procedures described in the Repair Instructions must be followed when
conducting repairs.

Please refer to Repair Instructions for 3 Series E36, job item 41 00.

Please refer to Repair Instructions for 7 Series E38, job item 41 00.

Please refer to Repair Instructions for E36/E38, job item 41 00.

Please note that the selection of aluminium body tools is only to be used on aluminium
body parts. Use on steel body parts and subsequent use on aluminium parts must be
strictly avoided. Failure to observe this will lead to corrosion damage. For this reason, these
tools are marked with red paint.

This range of tools must be stored in a red container, separate from standard steel body
tools. We recommend the tool cart also offered.

The body workshop should be equipped with at least one set.

Procedure:

We are now presenting the appropriate excerpt from the Repair Instructions, a list of
aluminium body tools and aids with price list (store tools are tools for repair operations
which are only supplied to order) and the order address and price list for the training video.

Please arrange for the training video to be made available to the appropriate staff and to
your specialist body workshop, if body repairs are not performed in house.
