Troubleshooting on Common Rail System at excessively low pressure

Specified value for "actual rail pressure value",

Test requirements:
-
Connect battery charger.
-
Starter motor cranks engine properly.
Component inspection
Test sequence
Remedy
Pressure sensor at fuel distributor.
-
Disconnect pressure sensor
plug from fuel distributor.
-
Start engine.
-
If the engine starts, the
electrical lead to the pressure
sensor or the pressure sensor
is faulty.
-
Check/repair electrical lead in
engine wiring harness.
-
Replace pressure sensor.
If the engine fails to start, carry out
visual inspection for external leaks.
External leaks
-
Connect DIS Tester.
-
Call up diagnosis requests in
control unit functions of DDE4.
-
Disconnect plug from camshaft
sensor.
-
Carry out visual inspection for
external leaks.
Replacing leaking system
components:

Pressure accumulator,
refer to 13 53 155.

Pressure lines,
refer to 13 53 170.
refer to 13 53 185.
-
Connecting lines between
pressure accumulators.
-
Connecting lines between
pressure accumulators and fuel
distributor.

High-pressure pump,
refer to 13 51 004.
-
Injectors,
refer to 13 53 315.
Actuate starter and read off "actual
rail pressure value".
If "actual rail pressure value" is too
low, check H.P. pump and pressure
regulator.
