Removing and installing power steering gear
Caution!
If the steering gear is replaced, check the relative height of
steering column idler arm,
refer to 32 21 510.
Recycling:
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.
Draw off hydraulic fluid from container - do not reuse.
Installation:
Top up and bleed hydraulic system,
refer to 32 13 006.
Remove steering wheel,
refer to 32 33 000.
Unscrew and remove splash guard.
Remove heat shield.
Remove hydraulic lines.
Seal bores with dust caps.
Installation:
Replace sealing rings (D).
M52: The line must have a distance to the steering
transmission of approx. 8 ... 10 mm - check that it is not
impaired by any other components.
Tightening Torque,
refer to Technical Data 32 41 3AZ.
