Replacing fuel pressure regulator (M62)
Caution!
The fuel in the fuel lines is under pressure (approx. 3 to 5
bar)! Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Follow instructions for checking fuel pressure,
refer to 13 31. . . Fuel pressure check.
Note:
Depending on the model series (E38, E39), national version
and production period, there are 3 possible installation
locations for the fuel pressure regulator:
1.
in injection pipe, rear
2.
in 3/2-way valve
3.
in fuel filter
The different installation locations are described below.
Fuel pressure regulator version 1:
Note:
There are 2 acoustic cover versions:
-
acoustic cover screwed down,
-
acoustic cover with press-stud fasteners.
Acoustic cover screwed down.
Remove seal caps (1).
Unscrew nuts (2).
Remove acoustic cover.
Acoustic cover with press-stud fasteners.
Press press-stud fasteners (1 ... 4) in succession and at same
time raise acoustic cover slightly. Remove acoustic cover when all
four press-stud fasteners have been unlocked.
Installation:
Position acoustic cover and press downwards until press-
studs fasteners (1 ... 4) click into place.
