Removing and installing/sealing or replacing
timing case at top (M73)
Remove both cylinder heads,
refer to 11 12 004.
Remove fan clutch with fan impeller and fan cowl,
refer to 11 52 020 / 17 11 031.
Remove non-return valve for cylinder group 1 to 6,
refer to 11 72 052.
Remove both distributor housings, this task is described in the
work step, Replacing radial seal in left distributor housing,
refer to 11 14 106.
If necessary, remove sensor for cylinder detection (camshaft
sensor),
refer to 12 14 525.
Removal
Removal and installation of the upper timing case are described
separately.
Unfasten screw on oil drip tray guide.
