Removing and installing or replacing final
drive

After completing operation, check oil level and, if
necessary, top up final drive oil level,

refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids

Remove exhaust system,

refer to 18 00 020

M67 Remove exhaust system,

refer to 18 00 018.

Remove heat shield.

Remove propeller shaft from final drive,

refer to 26 11 000.

Remove left and right output shafts and tie up,

refer to 33 21 000.

Support rear final drive with special tool 00 2 030 (workshop
hoist) and special tool 33 4 390

Unscrew bolt (1).

Tightening Torque,

refer to Technical Data 33 17 1AZ.

Caution!

Note insertion direction of screw (1).
