Replacing front-axle carrier

Caution!

After installation, align front axle,

refer to 32 00 610.

Disconnect battery,

refer to instructions on connecting and disconnecting battery
MG 12

During installation of a new front axle support, the pitman arm can
be adjusted,

refer to 32 21 510.

Suspend engine in installation position with special tool.

Described in:

Removing oil sump.

Unscrew and remove splash guard.

Remove front axle support steering gear (lines remain connected),

refer to 32 13 060.

Unfasten engine mount from front axle support.

Engine M57:

Detach left and right mounting brackets from front axle support.

Remove left or right control arms from front axle support.

Installation:

Fit washers (1) on both sides and replace self-locking nut.

Tightening Torque,

refer to Technical Data 31 12 2AZ
