Vehicle scrapping - pyrotechnic components
E65 / E66
Situation:
When scrapping end-of-life vehicles with pyrotechnic components (airbag, belt tensioner,
belt catch tensioner) at a disposal and recycling company, the instructions compiled by
BMW in the valid version must be observed.
New adapter cables have been introduced to trigger the airbags on E65 vehicles correctly.
The adapter cables are packaged together in the adapter cable set 62 1 350.
(Please refer to Enclosure 1)
Adapter cable set 62 1 350 is included in the existing special tools kit 62 1 400. The
ignition device that is also needed is already included in this kit. The kit price is increased
accordingly. Each special tools kit includes a set of instructions describing the precise
procedure.
Note:
Special tools kit 62 1 400 is approved for resale to disposal and recycling
companies to allow the correct disposal of pyrotechnic components.
Procedure:
Store tools will be supplied to order only.
