7 Series E65 745d (M67TU) SAL
Release screws (1).
Remove drive gear (2).
Important!
Do not allow timing chain to drop into crankcase.
Raise timing chain.
Remove sprocket wheel (2).
Tie up timing chain with a cable tie.
Evenly release screws of camshaft bearing caps in 1/2 turn steps
from outside to inside.
Remove bearing covers and place to one side in orderly fashion.
Note:
Illustrations show M67.
Remove exhaust camshafts (1) and carefully place to one side.
Remove inlet camshafts (2) and carefully place to one side.
Note:
Illustrations show M67.
Inlet and exhaust camshafts (1) are provided with markings.
Meaning:
E 1 = Inlet camshaft, cylinders 1 - 4
E 2 = Inlet camshaft, cylinders 5 - 8
A 1 = Exhaust camshaft, cylinders 1 - 4
A 2 = Exhaust camshaft, cylinders 5 - 8
Carefully insert exhaust camshaft (1).
Carefully insert inlet camshaft (2).
