Replacing all valve springs (M73)
(cylinder head removed)
Preliminary tasks are described in disassembly and
assembly of cylinder head,
refer to 11 12 503.
Caution!
The valve supports on the special tool 11 0 180 have
different angles.
Align spark plug apertures in valve supports to position of
spark plugs in cylinder head.
Insert special tool 11 0 180 from below in special
tool 11 1 065 and secure with special tool 11 1 045.
Note:
From 9/97 new valve spring (individual spring).
With the new valve spring, use special tool 11 0 345
instead of special tool 11 0 341.
Align special tool 11 0 341 in direction of valve shaft and select
appropriate groove in special tool 11 0 342.
Press down valve spring on spring cap, top, and remove valve
tapers.
Remove valve spring and plate spring.
