Removing and installing/replacing alternator
(M57)
Instructions for connecting and disconnecting battery,
refer to General Information Main Group 12.
Release terminal clip for battery negative lead on battery.
Disconnect and cover battery negative lead.
Caution!
When working on the oil, coolant or fuel circuit, you must protect
the alternator against contamination.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator
malfunction.
Remove fan cowl.
Remove alternator drive belt.
Detach plug (1) from alternator.
Detach protective cap (2) for positive battery lead.
Release nut (3).
Remove battery positive lead.
Tightening torque, 12 31 1AZ.
