Heated collar for crankcase ventilation system
E53 / M62
Complaint:
Engine misfiring, blue smoke from exhaust and high oil consumption
Cause:
Frozen oil separator. Engine oil is pumped into the intake manifold from the crankcase.
Affected
vehicles:
E53 with engine M62
Manufacturing period: from the start of series production
Remedy:
In case of customer complaint, heat the crankcase ventilation lines with heating a collar.
Procedure:
Retrofit heating collar and connector cable as described in Enclosure 1.
