Convertible top does not fold down
E85
Complaint:
Convertible top does not lock in lowered position in convertible top compartment. The
indicator lamp for the convertible top starts to flash while driving.
The convertible top stops 1 to 2 cm before reaching the end position (nominal position).
The locking element does not engage in the support.
The convertible top reaches the end position but the locking element is positioned above
the support bracket and is not engaged.
Fault profile
X-hooks (1) are located above the
openings (2) in the support bracket (3).
The locking element (4) is visible above
the support bracket (3).
Cause:
The problem may be attributed to the following causes:

The convertible top is not folded correctly when opened.

The main link collides with the roof frame link.

The X-hooks do not engage in the openings in the support.
-
The left main pillar is set too high.
Affected vehicles:
E85
Production period: Start of series production until March 2005
Procedure:
In the case of customer complaint, the following checks are performed, depending on the
production period, to determine the cause of the problem and provide corresponding
corrective measures:
1. Check folding of convertible top material in lowered position and correct if necessary.
