Noises from the dome strut mount area
E85, E86
Situation:
A) A creaking noise is heard from the front of the vehicle in the mid-dashboard area. This
can be caused by a loose screw connection between the dome strut and mount on the
suspension strut dome. The dome strut mount is not defective.
B) If a percussive noise is head from the same area, the cause is usually a dome strut
mount that has fractured off (see illustration below).

Production period: Start of series production to October 2006
Action:
Analyse and eliminate defects found by customer complaint or inspection.
Procedure:
•
Tighten loose screw connection between dome strut and mount on suspension strut
dome according to repair instructions in Enclosure 1 with torque.
•
Replace fractured dome strut mount on suspension strut dome according to repair
instructions in Enclosure 1.
