Century L4-151 2.5L (1989)
Timing Cover: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove torque strut rod bolt from cylinder head bracket.
2.
Remove serpentine drive belt, then raise and support vehicle.
3.
Remove right side wheel assembly, then right fender splash shield.
4.
Remove lower alternator bracket, then install engine support fixture No. J-28467 or equivalent.
5.
Remove engine mount bracket to cylinder block attaching bolts, then mount and bracket as an assembly.
6.
Remove flywheel cover, then install suitable tool to prevent flywheel from rotating.
7.
Remove crankshaft harmonic balancer attaching bolt, then balancer and key.
8.
Remove front cover attaching screws, then front cover.
9.
Using flathead screwdriver, remove oil seal. Do not distort cover.
10.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Position centering tool No. J-34995 or equivalent, into cover, then install and partially tighten two opposing cover screws.
b. Torque bolts to specifications.
