Century V6-260 4.3L DSL (1984)
Oil Pan: Service and Repair
1.
On 1983-85 models, rotate intermediate steering shaft until steering gear stub shaft clamp bolt is in the up position and remove clamp bolt, then
disconnect the intermediate shaft from stub shaft. Install suitable engine lifting fixture on all models.
2.
Raise vehicle but keep rear slightly lower than front.
3.
Install suitable supports at front of body at forward lift points.
4.
Drain engine oil.
5.
Remove left side steering gear to cradle bolt, then loosen right side steering gear to cradle bolt.
6.
Remove front stabilizer bar.
7.
Using 1/2 inch drill bit, drill through spot weld located between rear holes at left hand front stabilizer bar mounting.
8.
Remove engine and transaxle to cradle mount nuts.
9.
Disconnect left lower ball joint from knuckle.
10.
Position suitable support and block of wood under transaxle oil pan, then raise transaxle until mount stud clears cradle.
11.
Remove bolts securing front crossmember to right side of cradle.
12.
Remove left side body mount bolts.
13.
Remove left side and front crossmember assembly, then lower rear crossmember below left side by careful use of a pry bar.
14.
Remove flywheel cover, starter assembly and engine mount bracket.
15.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts and oil pan.
16.
Reverse procedure to install.
