Door Handle Replacement - Front Inside

Removal Procedure

1. Place the window in the full up position.
2. Remove the trim panel. Refer toTrim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door   (See: Front Door Panel/Service and Repair) .

Caution:  Standard shop practices, particularly eye protection, should be followed during these operations to avoid personal injury.

Important:  Support the back side of the rivet while driving the mandrel out to avoid bending the metal.

3. Use a center punch to remove the rivet mandrel.

4. Use a 6.35 mm (1/4 in) drill bit in order to drill out the door handle rivet.
5. Open the handle clip in order to remove the lock rod from the handle.
6. Open the handle clip in order to remove the handle rod from the handle.
7. Remove the inside door handle.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the door handle tabs in the door.
2. Install the handle rod to the handle and press the clip to secure the rod.
3. Install the lock rod to the handle and press the clip to secure the rod.
4. Install a new door handle rivet.
5. Install the trim panel. Refer toTrim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door   (See: Front Door Panel/Service and Repair) .
6. Close the window.
