SUBJECT:
USE OF CRANKSHAFT SENSOR ADJUSTING TOOL (J 37089)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1984 THROUGH 1989 BUICK MODELS EQUIPPED WITH PORT FUEL INJECTED ENGINES AND C(3)I
IGNITION (VIN CODES B, C, L, N, 3, 7, 9)
The crankshaft sensor adjusting tool (J 37089) should be used for accurate sensor positioning and determining interrupter vane concentricity. This tool
can be used to adjust all crankshaft sensors with the exception of the Delco single slot design illustrated below, and can be used to check the
concentricity of the interrupter vanes on ALL C(3)I harmonic balancers. Use of this tool will ensure proper clearance between the interrupter vanes and
sensors to prevent replacement sensors from becoming damaged.
Use the Kent-Moore feeler gage style crankshaft sensor adjusting tool (J 36179) on Delco single slot design sensors.
