Timing Chain: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect

1. Front cover
2. Turn crankshaft and line up timing marks 
3. Oil slinger
4. Camshaft sprocket and timing chain
5. Crankshaft sprocket
6. Key

Install or Connect

1. Key
2. Lubricate timing chain with clean engine oil.

3. On a flat surface, engage both sprockets into the timing chain with the timing marks aligned 
4. Holding timing chain and both sprockets, place crankshaft sprocket onto crankshaft, and place camshaft sprocket onto camshaft.

Tighten

Camshaft sprocket bolt to 88 N.m (65 lbs. ft.).
