Subject: Driver Side Carpet Loose, Pulling Away From Carpet Retainer/Sill Plate (Install Insulator (Shoddy) Patch to Underside of Carpet)
Models:
2008-2009 Buick Allure (Canada Only), LaCrosse
Condition
Some customers may comment that, when stepping into the vehicle, the driver side carpet is coming loose and pulling away from the carpet retainer/sill
plate.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the 15mm (0.590 in) gap that was designed between the carpet and the floor pan.
Correction
Note
The shoddy patch installation will be at the outboard area of the driver side carpet, as noted in the front view illustration above.
Glue a shoddy patch, cut from the floor panel insulator service part noted below, to the underside of the driver side carpet following the steps below:
1. Remove the left lower pillar garnish molding. Refer to Lower Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in SI.
2. Remove the left center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in SI.
3. Position the driver seat rearward and fold back the driver side carpet enough to gain access to the outboard underside area.
