1.
Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2.
Disconnect all hoses from water pump.
3.
Remove water pump pulley and drive belts.
It may be necessary to remove two nuts from front engine mount at frame and raise engine to
facilitate water pump pulley removal.
4.
Remove alternator and bracket and position aside.
5.
Remove distributor. if necessary.
6.
Remove crankshaft damper bolt and washer, then the damper.
7.
Remove timing case cover to cylinder block attaching bolts.
8.
Remove timing case cover to oil pan attaching bolts, then the timing case cover,

9.
Reverse procedure to install.
Before installing the case cover, remove oil pump cover and pack oil pump with petroleum jelly. Failure to
pack oil pump may result in the pump losing it's ``Prime'' when the engine is started. Also, apply suitable sealer to case cover bolts.
