EXC. RIVIERA
CASTER & CAMBER
Prior to checking or resetting caster and camber angles, bounce the front end at least twice to allow vehicle to return to normal trim height.Caster and
camber are adjusted by shimming at the upper control arm shaft attaching points.
Adding shims at the front locations will change caster toward negative with practically no change in camber. Adding shims at the rear locations will
change caster toward positive and camber toward negative. Adding equal shims at both front and rear locations will not change caster but will change
camber.
To adjust, loosen both front and rear nuts to free shims for removal or addition. After installing or removing shims, torque shaft nuts to 75 ft. lbs. on
all except Regal models, or 46 ft. lbs. for Regal.
A normal service shim pack should leave at least two threads exposed beyond the shaft nuts after final tightening. The difference between front and
rear shim packs should not exceed .400 inch.
TOE-IN
Fig. 1 Tie rod adjustment sleeve & clamp installation. Exc. Riviera
Prior to checking or resetting toe-in, bounce the front end at least twice to allow vehicle to return to normal trim height.
1. Ensure wheel bearings are adjusted properly.
2. Using suitable alignment equipment, with steering wheel in the straight ahead position, check toe-in.
3. If toe-in is not within specifications, loosen tie rod adjustment sleeve clamp bolts.
4. Turn tie rod adjustable sleeves an equal amount of turns but in opposite directions to bring toe-in within specifications.
5. Ensure tie rod end housings are at right angles to the steering arm, then position and torque tie rod adjustable sleeve clamps as shown in Fig. 1.
