Transaxle Solenoid & Driver Circuits
Chart C-8B Table
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
The 4T60-E transaxle uses two solenoids to control shifting. Shift solenoid "A" and shift solenoid "B". Refer to the table for solenoid operating
sequence.
The PCM monitors the TPS and vehicle speed vs. engine speed to determine the correct shift points.
If the PRNDL position indicates manual low position, the PCM will keep both solenoids "A" and "B" energized until 5400 rpm at which point the PCM
will force a shift by de-energizing solenoid "A". Manual 2nd and manual 3rd are controlled hydraulically within the transaxle.
TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to circled numbers on diagnostic chart.
1.
With the ignition "ON" and the engine not running, the PCM should be commanding 1st gear (both shift solenoid driver circuits grounded -
solenoids energized.)
2.
Checks PCM control and solenoid driver for shift solenoid A.
3.
Checks PCM control and solenoid driver for shift solenoid B.
4.
Do not measure resistance until ignition has been "OFF" for at least 10 seconds to make sure PCM has powered down completely.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If PCM control circuits and shift solenoids are working properly, but transaxle will still not shift correctly, may be internal hydraulic or mechanical
problem.
