Vacuum Delay Valve: Description and Operation
Used on some engines, the differential vacuum delay and separator valve delays the vacuum signal to the air bypass or air control valve, thereby
preventing air from diverting under normal operating conditions except during extended heavy engine loads. Under extended heavy load conditions, the
differential vacuum delay and separator valve permits vacuum to flow to the air bypass or air control valve, which then diverts air to atmosphere to
prevent exhaust system overheating.
