Headliner: Service and Repair

Headliner Replacement (Rendezvous)

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

Caution:  Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material
is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

1. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar  (See: Trim Panel/Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the sunroof switch, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Switch Replacement  (See: Roof and Associated Components/Sunroof /

Moonroof/Sunroof / Moonroof Switch/Service and Repair) in Roof.

3. Remove the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement - Overhead (Rendezvous)  (See: Console/Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement  (See: Sun Visor/Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the assist handle and rear coat hook. Refer toAssist Handle and Rear Coat Hook Replacement (Rendezvous)  (See: Passenger Assist

Handle/Service and Repair) .

6. Remove the rear coat hook. Refer toCoat Hook Replacement (Rendezvous)  (See: Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the assist handle. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement (Rendezvous)  (See: Passenger Assist Handle/Service and Repair) .
8. Remove the upper center trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Center Pillar  (See: Trim Panel/Service and Repair) .
9. Remove the rear quarter upper trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)  (See: Trim Panel/Service and Repair) .

10. Remove the cargo lamp. Refer to Cargo Lamp Replacement   .

11. Use J 38778  in order to remove the rear headliner push-in retainers.
12. Remove the headliner from the roof through the rear of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the headliner to the roof through the rear of the vehicle.
2. Push the headliner rearwards in order to lock the headliner into place.

3. Install the rear headliner push-in retainers.
4. Install the cargo lamp. Refer to Cargo Lamp Replacement   .
5. Install the rear quarter upper trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Rendezvous)  (See: Trim Panel/Service and Repair) .
6. Install the upper center pillar trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Center Pillar  (See: Trim Panel/Service and Repair) .
7. Install the assist handle. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement (Rendezvous)  (See: Passenger Assist Handle/Service and Repair) .
8. Install the assist handle and rear coat hook. Refer toAssist Handle and Rear Coat Hook Replacement (Rendezvous)  (See: Passenger Assist
