2. Install the outer tie rod (2) to the steering knuckle (1).
3. Important: This is a prevailing torque type fastener. This fastener may be reused ONLY if:

The fastener and its counterpart are clean and free from rust
^
The fastener develops 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.) of torque (drag) against its counterpart prior to the fastener seating.
If the fastener does not meet these criteria, REPLACE the fastener.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Install the tie rod ball stud nut.

Tighten the tie rod ball stud nut to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) + 120° (2 flats).
Important: Ensure that 2.5-4.5 tie rod end threads are visible beyond the tie rod nut nylon.
4. Install the front tire and wheel.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Inspect and adjust the toe as necessary.
