As shown in Fig. 2, the assembly is a turn signal switch and hazard warning switch. It is mounted in a housing at the upper end of the steering column
mast jacket, just below the steering wheel. Therefore to get at the switch the steering wheel will have to be removed.
Also, on models equipped with tilt steering columns, it will be necessary to lower the column assembly from instrument panel.

Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove steering wheel and lock plate cover. On tilt columns, remove tilt lever.
3.
With a suitable compressor, compress lock plate and spring, then remove snap ring from shaft, Fig. 3.
4.
Remove lock plate cover with a suitable screwdriver.
5.
Remove lock plate, cancelling cam, preload spring and thrust washer.
6.
Remove turn signal lever and hazard warning switch knob.
7.
Disconnect switch wiring connector and wrap a piece of tape around connector upper end and wiring harness, preventing snagging when removing
switch.
8.
Remove three switch retaining screws and switch.
9.
Reverse procedure to install.
